Sardinia

2024

2024 Sardinia

Renato Spanu of Jankara

This year was a bit complicated in terms of the weather. We practically didn’t have a winter here in Sardinia so the growth cycle began 3 weeks early, which then resulted in an earlier harvest than usual.

Summer was hot and dry, which made the plants suffer and lowered the yields considerably, in particular Vermentino where we obtained 45 quintals per hectare instead of 75. The reds in Mamoiada however resisted better thanks to the altitude of the vineyard and they will be high in quality. The Vermentino will also be very good, but unfortunately there will be less wine available from the 2024 vintage.

Friuli-Venezia Giulia

2024

2024 Friuli Venezia Giulia

Angela Bortoluzzi of Bortoluzzi

After a rather cold start to spring, which saw some frost and thus risked flowering, May and June were very rainy and we had to work hard to fend off any disease.

July and August were hot and not very rainy, but fortunately, there were no extreme weather events in our vineyards. We reached harvest a little early, but the grapes are in excellent health. Production will be slightly lower.

The 2024 wines will be of excellent quality, with good natural alcohol content and a good alcohol/acidity ratio.

Le Marche

2024

2024 Marche

Gabriele Tanfani of Villa Bucci

Spring and summer were very dry with very high temperatures (some of the hottest  and driest we’ve ever seen).

The growth cycle was very early and we didn’t see any problems regarding the health of the grapes.

Fortunately, our old vines (they are over half a century old) withstand these extreme situations better than younger vines, both in terms of temperature and water stress. In fact, only a few areas of the vineyards experienced water stress and/or suffered sun damage. This was also achieved thanks to green pruning and shade agents such as Zeolite, Kaolin, Basalt etc.

The grapes we harvested were excellent quality, but smaller in quantity (-20% less than the average production of the last 5 years).
