Cantina Santadi | Rocca Rubia Carignano del Sulcis Riserva DOC | 2018 | Vinous | 01/03/2021 | 90
VerbiageThe 2018 Carignano del Sulcis Rocca Rubia impresses more for purity than power, presenting a display of sweet florals, crushed stone, bright cherry and hints of flowery undergrowth. It’s silky in texture, lifted by vibrant acidity, with tart wild berry fruits and saline-minerals giving way to violet tones toward the close. A subtle coating of tannin lingers, framing the experience nicely, as this tapers off with a bitter twang and hints of licorice. The Rocca Rubia is very pretty and lightly structured, showing the difficulties of the vintage while maintaining admirable balance. – Eric Guido, Vinous, Mar. 2021 |

Speri | Amarone della Valpolicella Classico “Sant’Urbano” DOCG | 2016 | Wine Enthusiast | 01/03/2021 | 94
VerbiageMade with organically grown grapes, this full-bodied, plush red has inviting aromas of baked plum, new leather, camphor and violet. Smooth and enveloping, the delicious palate doles out mouthfuls of fruit cake, baking spice, fleshy blackberry and licorice. Velvety tannins provide softness while fresh acidity keeps it balanced. VerbiageThe 2017 Barolo Castelletto Vigna Pressenda is a gorgeous, exotic wine. Rose petal, orange peel, cinnamon, cedar and red berry fruit all open in a beautifully layered, super-expressive Barolo from Conterno-Fantino. Beams of Castelletto tannin extend the finish while lending a real feeling of vibrancy throughout. The balance of purity and structure is compelling. — Antonio Galloni Drink 2025 – 2037. Feb 2021 |

Private: Conterno Fantino | Private: Barolo Ginestra “Vigna del Gris” DOCG | 2017 | Vinous | 18/02/2021 | 93
VerbiageThe 2017 Barolo Ginestra Vigna del Gris is classic Gris. Bright, focused and taut in feel, 2017 offers up a whole range of floral and spice top notes that give the wine terrific freshness. On the palate, the Gris is a bit nervous, as it always is, yet with superb balance and class. The tannins can be a bit edgy here, but the 2017 keeps everything in check. This is such a pretty wine. — Antonio Galloni Drink 2025 – 2035. Feb 2021 |

Private: Conterno Fantino | Private: Barolo Ginestra “Vigna Sori Ginestra” DOCG | 2017 | Vinous | 18/02/2021 | 94
VerbiageThe 2017 Barolo Ginestra Vigna Sorì Ginestra is another gorgeous, expressive wine in this range. Broad and ample, the 2017 captures all of the personality of this site. Dark-fleshed fruit, spice, menthol, licorice, espresso, dried flowers and pine infuse the 2017 with myriad layers of dimension. There is plenty of Ginestra energy and tannin, so a few years of cellaring is a must. — Antonio Galloni Drink 2025 – 2037. Feb 2021 |

Private: Conterno Fantino | Private: Barolo Mosconi “Vigna Ped” DOCG | 2017 | Vinous | 18/02/2021 | 95
VerbiageThe 2017 Barolo Mosconi Vigna Ped is deep, resonant and expansive, as wines from this site tend to be. In this tasting, the Mosconi is wonderfully deep. Its stature alone is compelling. And yet there is so much to the Mosconi. Readers will find a Barolo that melds together a rich, racy expression of fruit with plenty of structure that wraps everything together. Rich red fruit, blood orange, tar, spice and cedar build as the 2017 gains volume through to the finish. — Antonio Galloni Drink 2025 – 2037. Feb 2021 |

Marcarini | Barolo La Serra DOCG | 2017 | Vinous | 18/02/2021 | 90+
VerbiageThe 2017 Barolo La Serra needs time to come together, but it could turn out to be quite good. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, spice, mint and wild flowers give the 2017 a very pretty upper register to play off its translucent personality. Firm La Serra tannins lurk beneath, which lends a slightly nervous, tense feel. — Antonio Galloni 90+ Drink 2023 – 2032. Feb 2021 |

VerbiageMarcarini’s 2016 Barolo Brunate captures much of the mystique of this La Morra site in its beguiling aromatics. Deep, layered and so expressive, the 2016 has a lot to offer. Time in the glass brings out an exotic quality to the red toned fruit, with spice, menthol and floral overtones that linger. I would not be in a rush to open bottles. — Antonio Galloni Drink 2026 – 2036. |

Cascina Bongiovanni | Barolo “Pernanno” DOCG | 2017 | Vinous | 18/02/2021 | 90
VerbiageThe 2017 Barolo Pernanno is laced with cherries in liqueur, dried rose petal, spice, sweet oak, cedar, tobacco and earthy notes. I would prefer to drink the 2017 over the next handful of years, before the fruit fades too much. — Antonio Galloni Drink 2022 – 2032. Feb 2021 |

Cascina Bongiovanni | Barolo Riserva DOCG | 2015 | Vious | 18/02/2021 | 92
VerbiageThe 2015 Barolo Riserva is a very pretty wine. Effusive aromatics and mid-weight structure give the 2015 tons of immediacy and appeal. Crushed flowers, red berry fruit, mint, spice and orange zest add attractive layers of nuance that continue to develop as the wine opens in the glass. This classy, understated Barolo is a strong effort from proprietor Davide Mozzone. — Antonio Galloni Drink 2022 – 2033. Feb 2021 |
