Fuligni | Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG | 2016 | Wine Advocate | 28/02/2022 | 97+
VerbiageHere’s one of the show-stoppers in this report. The Fuligni 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a layered and important wine with deep renderings of wild berry, ripe fruit, oak spice, pressed flowers and garden herbs. This Brunello lives up to its Riserva designation with extra textural richness, more oak definition, structure and a bigger, longer-lasting aromatic profile. The wine closes with hints of cola, rosemary and wild rose. -Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb. 2022 |

Conti Costanti | Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG | 2016 | Wine Advocate | 28/02/2022 | 95
VerbiageThe 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is darkly saturated and quite rich; however, this classic vintage also delivers an enhanced level of sharpness and focus too. Dark cherry, plum and other black or purple fruits cede to pretty acidic freshness and a sense of tight buoyancy and vitality, which are among the best qualities of this vintage.
Conti Costanti makes lovely wines that I would characterize as being on the darker and more concentrated side of the Brunello style spectrum. This is especially true with this set of new releases. -Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb. 2022

Fuligni | Brunello di Montalcino DOCG | 2017 | Wine Advocate | 28/02/2022 | 95
VerbiageThe Fuligni 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful wine, and it shines a much-deserved spotlight on one of the most consistent estates in Montalcino. It is bright and luminous with a dark ruby shine. The bouquet reveals deeply layered tones of red cherry, wild berry, rose, earth and candied violets. Give the wine an extra twirl or two, and you get some rosemary and lavender. Soft dusty mineral and limestone also appear. I’d definitely put this bottle on a short list of the most recommended bottles from the 2017 vintage.” -Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb. 2022 |

Poderi Einaudi | Barolo “Bussia” DOCG | 2018 | Vinous | 28/02/2022 | 94
VerbiageThe 2018 Barolo Bussia captures all of the aromatic intensity and nuance that is so typical of the best wines from Monforte’s Bussia district. Strong spice and floral notes lead into dark fruit laced with super-expressive balsamic overtones. Rose petal, mint, blood orange and cinnamon linger on the exquisite finish. – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb. 2022 |

Poderi Einaudi | Barolo Monvigliero DOCG | 2018 | Vinous | 28/02/2022 | 94
VerbiageThe 2018 Barolo Monvigliero is a fabulous wine, especially for a first release and in this tricky vintage. Intensely aromatic, lifted and ethereal, with striking complexity, the 2018 captures all of the essential signatures of this great Verduno site. Silky tannins give this weightless, wonderfully translucent Barolo a real feeling of finesse. – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb. 2022 |

Carpineta Fontalpino | Do ut Des IGT | 2017 | Vinous | 28/02/2022 | 93
VerbiageTightly wound and austere, with cherry and plum fruit wrapped up in the grip of dusty tannins. This is vibrant and gains finesse as it lingers on the fruit and savory aftertaste. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2039. 1,650 cases made, 200 cases imported. –BS, Wine Spectator, Web 2022 |

Conti Costanti | Brunello di Montalcino DOCG | 93 | Wine Advocate | 28/02/2022 | 93
VerbiageThe Conti Costanti 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is nicely layered and concentrated, with an immediate delivery of black fruit, spice and potting soil. This vintage shows a savory personality more than it shows a sweet one, and the tannins are quite soft and velvety. This is an open-knit Brunello from a hot and dry vintage to drink in the medium-term.
Conti Costanti makes lovely wines that I would characterize as being on the darker and more concentrated side of the Brunello style spectrum. This is especially true with this set of new releases.” -Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb. 2022

Poderi Einaudi | Barolo Cannubi DOCG | 2018 | Vinous | 28/02/2022 | 93
VerbiageThe 2018 Barolo Cannubi is another terrific wine in this range from Einaudi. There is an effortless, gracious quality to the Cannubi that is impossible to miss. Expressive aromatics meld into a core of creamy, exquisitely layered Cannubi red-toned fruit. Sweet red cherry, red plum, rose petal, mint and blood orange emerge, but only with great reluctance. The 2018 is pretty closed right now, but that won’t be an issue in another few years’ time. – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb. 2022 |

Poderi Einaudi | Barolo “Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi” DOCG | 2018 | Vinous | 28/02/2022 | 92
VerbiageThe 2018 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi shows the wilder side of Nebbiolo in its virile, potent personality. The flavors are dark and mysterious. Dark cherry, dried flowers, lavender, asphalt, spice and scorched earth develop, adding to the wine’s decidedly somber personality. The Terlo is an intriguing wine that has a ton to offer.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb. 2022 |
