Pietradolce | Contrada Santo Spirito Etna Rosso DOC | 2017 | 23/06/2022 | 92
Verbiage“The 2017 Etna Rosso Contrada Santo Spirito is intense, bursting from the glass with an array of crushed black raspberries, dried roses, curry-like spices and cedar shavings. It is potent, with waves of velvety textural red fruits that coat the palate in primary concentration, offset by a core of citrus-tinged acidity. It leaves sweet tannins that grip the senses without slowing the 2017’s momentum, as hints of sour cherry and balsam herbs resonate. This is a sexy Santo Spirito that just needs a bit more cellaring to soften some of its rough edges.” – Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022 |

Pietradolce | Sant’Andrea Bianco IGT | 2016 | Vinous Media | 23/06/2022 | 90
Verbiage“The 2016 Etna Bianco Vigna Sant’Andrea is a orange-amber color in the glass, with a rich yet still remarkably fresh bouquet that blends baked apple, brown spice and roasted almond with an invigorating lift of vanilla-tinged florals. It’s silky-smooth and savory with noticeable weight, all nicely contrasted by saline-minerality, as tart orchard fruits and hints of iodine settle upon the senses. It finishes long with an air of custardy richness and hints of herbal peach that linger. The Vigna Sant’Andrea is an extremely unique wine, sourced from 100% Carricante vines that are up to 130 years old. The wine refines on the skins in twenty-hectoliter French oak. All of that said, this will not be for everyone.” – Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022 |
