Fuligni | Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto DOC | 2021 | Vinous | 01/12/2023 | 93
Verbiage“The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto is gorgeous, blossoming before my eyes with a heady blend of sweet rose petals, dried black cherries and autumnal spice. Its textures are pure and silky, as a polished wave of ripe red fruits and cooling mineral tones wash across the palate. Rich raspberry and balsamic spice hints linger, and the 2021 finishes crisp and fresh yet still youthfully structured. This is one of the prettiest interpretations of Ginestreto I’ve experienced, yet that’s not to say it’s any less powerful.” -Eric Guido |

Dal Cero in Valpolicella | Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso DOC | 2020 | Vinous | 01/12/2023
Verbiage“The 2020 Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso opens in the glass with a whiff of sweet herbs and crushed blackberry fruit. This sweeps across the palate with ripe raspberry and orange tones, complicated by a tinge of crunchy minerality. This leaves violet inner florals and a hint of sweet spice, finishing pleasantly fresh and admirably long.” – Eric Guido, Vinous |

Dal Cero in Valpolicella | Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG | 2017 | Vinous | 01/12/2023 | 90
Verbiage“Dried black cherries, cloves, cinnamon and dried roses create a darkly inviting bouquet as the 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella opens in the glass. This is soft textured and round yet lacks thrust and concentration, coming across as mineral-driven yet a bit lighthearted. It finishes with a pleasantly bitter tinge and medium length, leaving grippy tannins to resonate.” – Eric Guido, Vinous |

Conti Costanti | Brunello di Montalcino DOCG | 2017 | Vinous | 30/11/2023 | 93
Verbiage“An alluring, spicy and dusty mix of cherry and raspberry preserves, crushed stone and dusty flowers is lifted by cedar shavings and dried citrus peels as the majestic 2017 Brunello di Montalcino blossoms in the glass. This is fleshy yet delicate in feel, displaying pure ripe red berry fruit, nicely contrasted by salty mineral tones, and lacking only a bit of midpalate depth that might take it to the next level. It tapers off long while leaving the mouth watering for more, as a gentle tug of tannin slowly fades under rosy inner florals. Andrea Costanti didn’t produce a Riserva in 2017, and so all of that juice was used to try to bolster the Brunello. From what I’ve tasted, I’d say he succeeded. ” -Eric Guido, Vinous |

Verbiage“The 2019 Brunello from Costanti is breathtakingly gorgeous. Combining the intensity of the vintage and the hallmark finesse that defines the wines of this historic estate, this is a wine Brunello lovers will want in their cellars. It opens with heady aromas of fragrant blue flower, woodland berry, forest floor and new leather that on the palate segue into juicy Marasca cherry, wild raspberry, blood orange, menthol and baking spice. Firm, ultra-refined tannins offer support while bright acidity keeps it beautifully balanced and vibrant. What. A. Stunner. Drink 202-20224. ” -Kerin O’Keefe November 2023 ©kerinokeefe.com |

Conti Costanti | Brunello di Montalcino DOCG | 2019 | Decanter | 30/11/2023 | 100
Verbiage“I remember tasting Costanti’s 2019 Rosso di Montalcino in 2021 and thinking how Brunello-esque it was: the sturdy structure was almost uncharacteristic, yet it certainly boded well for the Brunello. Simply gloriously sculpted, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is indeed statuesque and stately. While it doesn’t give everything up all at once, it is gracious in its presentation. From chestnut forest and sweet earth, to anise and orange extract, the aromas are visceral, and boundless depths of wild red berries suffuse the palate. It vibrates with scintillating acidity and long, tactile tannins which stretch out leisurely. I bet that Rosso has hit its stride now – if you have some, it’s what you’ll want to drink while waiting for this captivatingly beautiful Brunello. I can’t help but imagine what next year’s Riserva release has in store.” -Michaela Morris, Decanter, Nov. 2023 |
